| DRY BLENDS KALO's dry blended adjuvants are convenient, effective and economical KALO's dry adjuvant blends are designed to complement any post emergence herbicide spray mix. One or more of the blends offer the applicator the means to quickly and accurately add the required adjuvants specified on the herbicide label. The particle size of each blend is reduced to ensure the adjuvants go into solution quickly. The components used in these blends include three or more of the following adjuvants:
Many herbicides require the use of a nonionic surfactant. A surfactant spreads the spray across the leaf and helps it to penetrate the hairy or waxy leaf surface. The surfactant used is Dri nonionic surfactant. Dri reduces surface tension of water, making water wetter. This enables more of the spray droplets to remain on the targeted weed.
Ammonium sulfate improves herbicide performance. It is a required adjuvant of several herbicides. AMS may also be substituted for nitrogen solution. Ammonium salts reduce antagonism of hard water with herbicides. AMS speeds uptake of herbicides; important when plant metabolism slows due to drought or cool temperatures.
Spray drift can damage susceptible plants. Though many factors affect spray drift, the addition of a drift suppressant will reduce the amount of spray fines. The drift suppressant hydrates in water to increase viscosity of the spray mixture. This increases droplet size and reduces the number of airborne fines. We include the drift suppressant in all blended adjuvants to provide a margin of safety for the applicator.
Getting more herbicide on the weed will improve results. Larger droplets and fewer fines keeps more herbicide within the intended spray pattern. And a lower surface tension reduces spray "bounce-off" from the leaves. Less drift and spray droplet loss combine to improve spray deposition. The deposition agent is included in all blended adjuvants.
Preventing foam in mixing will improve efficiency. The antifoam added to all dry blended adjuvants forms a trouble-free floating film which inhibits foam formation. |
